KCWA Family and Social Services is a non-profit organization established in 1985 by a group of women who were concerned with women and family issues and serves women, men, senior and youth all of them.

To do this, we aspire to:

  • Empower all members of the community to live free from violence, poverty and inequity.

  • Provide culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate services and programs.

  • Enhance the well being of immigrant families and promote their efforts to realize their potential.

History

Present
  • 14 Board of Directors, 16staff members, and 360 volunteers work together to serve close to 7,600 clients and deliver nearly 31,000 service encounters per year

2012
  • Opened North York Office at Bathurst-Finch Hub (540 Finch Ave. West)

2009
  • To begin the year of 25th anniversary, held an anniversary celebration event with the attendance of past board of directors, long time supporters, funders, volunteers, and staff

2008
  • 23rd Anniversary Annual General Meeting "

2007
  • 22nd Anniversary Annual General Meeting

2006
  • 21st Anniversary Annual General Meeting

2005
  • 20 th Anniversary Annual General Meeting “Reflecting on the Past and Envisioning Prosperous Tomorrow”

2004
  • Changed the official name to KCWA Family and Social Services and modified the bylaws to broaden service clientele to meet the needs of our diverse communities

1998
  • Moved to current address, 27 Madison Ave. Toronto ON

1995
  • 15 Anniversary Event Conference on “Past & Future of KCWA”

1994
  • Moved to 339 Bloor Street.

1992
  • Moved to 789 Don Mills Rd.

1991
  • Registered as Charity organization (Registration # 091932-39)

1989
  • Received funding from United Way and the Ontario Women’s Directorate.

1986
  • Received the first funding from the Secretary of State

1985
  • Held the first Annual General Meeting on July 30 and Directors were elected. Began services at 794 Bathurst Street.

  • Incorporated as a Non-profit organization in November (Incorporation # 651619)

1983
  • Ad-hoc group was formed to organize the Korean Canadian Women’s Association.
